The purpose of this meeting is to determine whether taxable property in the jurisdiction has been properly valued and classified by the local assessor, and whether or not corrections need to be made. Assessment staff shall review the valuation, classification, or both if necessary, and correct if needed. In some circumstances, a physical site inspection of the property may be required by the assessment staff, in order to make further decisions or changes. Generally, an appearance for an Open Book appeal is required first by law, before an appeal can be taken further to the County Board of Appeal and Equalization.
